Scent Work is one of the most fun new sports available to pet owners. Scent Work is modeled after the bomb and drug-sniffing dogs, of course, we don’t use bombs or drugs 🙂 We teach our dogs to search out, locate and communicate that they have located the targeted odor. The most common odors we use are birch, anise, and clove.

There are many advantages to teaching and playing scent work with your dog. Probably the most important is that it gives your dog a job. And we all know a tired dog is a good dog.

The beauty of scent work is that it is a low impact sport, so that means dogs of ANY age or breed can play! Also, any person can participate in this sport – either on a fun level or the highest levels of competition.

The other point that makes Scent Work so appealing that you can practice ANYWHERE with a minimum amount of equipment. You can find great search areas anywhere! Your house, your yard, around your neighborhood, friends and families’ homes, parks, dog-friendly venues such as Home Depot, etc.
